Fore sight

“Umbrella, Antenna, Umbrella, Antenna…” he repeated, saying it over and over again, singing it out. Then he changed singing out. “College tree. College tree.” over and over. Around him the walls were white and padded, waiting, for the inevitable point where he would throw himself against them in frustration. Harder and harder till he tired himself out.  For he was insane, and he would always be. To match that he could only say four words. Umbrella, antenna, college and tree. So he couldn’t really tell them any thing.

Why was he mad? Ah, that had to do with the government, the old government or something, apparently there had been a change. They, all the mad haters in this Asylum, were out floating on the big wide blue, they had been deemed to be dangerous, some of them would kill, others, like him, would wreck the governments reputation if  people knew about them. Then there was the crew. Working on the boat for half a year then, when the boat hit port, another crew would come on for half a year, then another, then it started again. None of those in the Asylum were metta’s. He had no doubt that the crew held one or two. He was one too, a freak.  Back to why he was mad.  He could sense things, and some times see into the future. He ended up working for the Government of that time. And when they found out he could some times randomly see into the future they decided to try and improve his skill.  After giving him a whole big boring speech about his duty to the nation that was probably meant to be uplifting. Well he let them.  And it failed, like more than half of those things did, he was mad. Well… it didn’t really fail, they removed a lot of barriers in his mind, but now he couldn’t process all the information, and lost his speech, no he wasn’t mad, it just seemed that way. Umbrella, antenna, college, tree. What did it mean?

Suddenly he snapped his head to the left. Eyes staring from where he had curled up on the floor as a light blood red mist flowed though the walls and to the other side, It was looking for him. Not himself, another  guy, The meta hunter, to put simply, he was insane and would chase and kill all the meta humans, good or bad. So why one was looking for it, he didn’t know. But this one was bad. He needed to tell some one so he shouted out, it didn’t occur to him that he was shouting out ?No. Over and over. “NO! NO! NO! NO!” he shouted over, he began jumping up and down waving his hand like a mad man, hell he was mad. “NO! NO! NO! NO!” he ran to where one of the cameras that ringed the room, continuing his mad dance. The red mist shifted, It found what It wanted. The sound of a lock turning caught his ears as a woman entered. “Taz? You learn a new word?” she had red hair pulled back into a lose bun. Her skin was fair and her eyes blue, she was one of the caretakers, the one that tried to understand him at least. “No, Yes.” Taz answered. How can he tell her that something was wrong. What about an umbrella? They protect. And an antenna kind of tracks. “So you learn’t two new words?” her voice cut though. The red mist shifted, it’s attention drawn to him.
“No umbrella, No umbrella.” He said grabbing her then pointing to where the red mist was  focused before, where ‘it’ was. “Antenna, Antenna.” He jumped up and down before howling. “What? Never mind I’ll get something to write with.” She said before leaving, the locks engaging as the door closed, the mists closed in on him. Seeing nothing he could do nothing except watch. He closed his eyes and immersed himself into the flowing ribbons of time,
thousands of possible out-come surrounding him, She would make it. They had docked at Angel Falls, interesting. This mind that was searching the ship originated from there, but deep under ground.
“Taz? Are you asleep?” her voice cut though. Just before the umbrella, antenna, college and tree found him. He pulled out and opened his eyes looking at her. “no.” he grabbed the paper from her hand and the pencil, blunt one, probably so he didn’t try to hurt himself, laying the sheet on the soft ground he tried to write, his movements jerky and spastic, a straight line with three coming out the side ,E, he tried a v, the red mist began focusing on him, I, he tried an L but his hand jerked. Ruining it. Nevertheless he continued. Another I, an s. that looked more like a backward z. a terrible H, then the mist attacked. She couldn’t see it, he probably was the only one who could. Don’t bother trying to warn them. pain, pain filled his head, his hand flew to his head and he threw himself backwards, as if it would break the link as he screamed. He paid no more attention to the woman. no, I won’t kill you, I find you interesting. I wonder what will happen if I remove the last of these barriers in your mind. “No.” Taz gasped. Without those barriers his mind would be completely filled, it could override his thoughts. Destroy him.  Then they were gone, the barriers in his mind, the last ones were gone. He felt a surge within his mind, information pouring in. His mind couldn’t take it! It would burn out. And all the  time it laughed, delighting in his pain. Then it receded, the pain, his mind processing it faster then anything had any right to. He stopped the flow. Aaah the monster said, it wasn’t an aah this didn’t go right. It was more one of interest. Like it was saying it wanted to look into this further. Searching him out. He wasn’t gonna let that happen. Mentally he grabbed the link in his mind, and opened himself to the flow of the future before forcing it through the link in a condensed flow of information. The link shuddered as a roar traveled though it before collapsing, the red mist that represented It’s mind with drawled from the room.

“TAZ!” the woman said. He looked at her. The Alarm was blaring through hidden speakers. Meaning the metta hunter was free. He would kill every one on the ship. Unless… “I need to go. Black Dragon will do more then just kill me.” He said, getting up. Moving to her. “Thank you for trying to help me. I would take you with me but every path I looked at did not end well. But I can’t let you die so forgive me.”
“What?” she said, her face held confusion, why wouldn’t it. He could use a whole vocabulary of words. He put his hand on her shoulder, he mind going though the future of where he put his hand so that he placed it on a place that would trigger a nerve that would knock her out, “wha..” she fell. He stepped out the door. Walked down one hall then another confident, looking a head. Once he had to double back but soon he was out and away. Jumping off the edge of the ship, timing it all right to the second, avoiding the eyes of the curious.

Unknown to him a figure knelt on a buildings edge, in the perfect place to see the boat. He had wolfish features, tracing the fleeing man with fierce grey eyes. “Hmm”, he said. Before turning to look at another person exiting the door that lead to the decks below. He was dressed in what looked like a skintight Dragon costume. Minus the head and tail.  The wings just detailed images on his back as he ran over the other edge and jumped into the water. The figure with the sharp features raised two fingers to his ear. “Black Dragon got out. Should I get him?” he said, a deep voice like a thousand nightmares came to his mind. No, I will lead him to where he can get powers, let the lunatic run amuck for now. As long as he doesn’t get caught, if he does, then you can intervene. The man nodded. “Yes Master.”

I would tell you more, but the Master’s mind is a dangerous place.
